Break time

Guess what?!

I suck at blogging lately, and thats mostly because I have been doing more work at work to try to prepare for leaving and starting a new job!!!

I’m extremely excited that I have been hired as an embryology tech working in a lab at a fertility clinic! I can’t wait to get back to doing science-y stuff and working with people that don’t burp all day or annoy me. I have a co-worker that has made it his goal in life to prove I’m wrong about everything. My religion, my eating habits, my exercise…everything about my life basically. (He also thinks weight watchers meals and buttered popcorn are HEALTHY foods…ugh, I just keep my mouth shut because he’s not worth the argument) I can’t wait to wear scrubs and have nice hours that allow me to see more daylight!Ā I am finally going to be able to do kids programs and after-school programs that I’ve been wanting to build…plus fingers crossed that I’ll actually be able to afford my bills, now!!!

I also look forward to being able to have a more focused CrossFit training schedule and less desk sitting. Ok, enough about that, I just wanted to say don’t expect posts until I settle into all of this.

Onto CrossFit. 13.1-meh, it was ok, I was happy enough. 13.2, thats sucked but I was proud of my score. 13.3, attempted last night, my back froze and I crawled away from the wall after only 115 wallballs. Sunday, I shall try again!

Best Week Ever!!!!!!!

Sarcasm šŸ™‚

So, I should probably wait until this week ends just to see what else could happen to me….but I’m superstitious and think that If I write about it it will finalize it and make all the bad stop.

First, about a week and a half ago, I left work and found that my car was gone. I had parked illegally in a snow pile and didn’t realize it, so my car was ticketed and towed. Then, this past weekend, I was driving home from the Adirondack Summer Sports expo, thinking about all of the things I needed to do and completely zoned out and just went with traffic flow….which I guess was a little too fast! I got pulled over for speeding. (No points, just a stinkin’ ticket!)

Then, yesterday, I was pouring hot water into my french press when it slipped out of my hands and onto my leg. I was of course wearing skinny leg pants and therefore was unable to get the scalding hot hot off of me without taking my pants off in the middle of the break room. My thigh blistered a bit and it painful to touch, but definitely not as bad as it could have been!

Today, I was on my way to work, nice and early when I hear a thump under my car. Then the “check tire pressure” light comes on, my car begins to lean, and I hear “thump, thump, thump, thump, thump”. Ā Unfortunately, its rush hour traffic and I have to enter Albany through the second most ghetto-y sketchy part…so I wait until I get to a safer neighborhood and I pull over. By this point, I was driving on the metal and I could hear/feel it. I have changed a tire before, but 1- its cold this morning, and 2- I wore a dress to to keep my burns aired out. Ā So I called AAA and showed up at work 1/2 late.

The AAA operator said I sounded like this…

Isn’t my week hilariously awful? Yeah, I know. It wouldn’t be so bad if all of this didn’t cost money (Like at least $500 total?)

This is why I can’t go to Disney World, get a kitty, or get the Reebok Nanos I want.

I have already taken Friday off of work…just to be on the safe side. And maybe because something really great might happen that day.

WODs and Open Scores!

This week has been a bit crazy! I can barely remember what my WODs were…We did a lot of focus on fundamental movements because we’ve had a lot fo new people start recently.

Monday: Squats!
40-30-20-10 of front squats at 95lbs and GHD situps, all split up with a partner

Tuesday: OHS and pushups with a partner
You and partner have 2 minutes to each complete 10 OHS and 5 push-ups, then a minute to up the weight, then do it again. The goal was make it through 5 increases.
I went: 75#, 85#, 95#, 105#, and then got 6 115# in and dropped the weight on my back, tried again to get the weight up in time but failed so I let me partner get his reps in

Wednesday: Girls Night! I really LOVE my CF box! The people over all are awesome.
I hosted the first CrossFit Beyond Girls Night at the box and had 13 ladies show up. After our WOD we went across the street to a bar that was having a karaoke night.
Our WOD was one person would row 15 calories, while the other team members each did one of the following movements: goblet squats, shoot thrus, lateral jumps, turkish get-ups, and pistols. Each time the rower completed the 15 calories, the whole group would rotate to a new movement. This continued for 20 minutes.

I will proudly say that I sang “Shoop” by Salt-n-pepa and didn’t even need the screen to tell me the words šŸ™‚

Thrusday: I took a mental health day and Matt and I went out for breakfast! This was our WOD 13.0 haha!20130307_092106

At night, I coached class, then stretched and pumped myself up for 13.1, only to find out I had to judge other athletes first…then finally at 8pm I got to go šŸ˜¦ I’m grumbly that I didn’t get to go when I was fresh and ready, but I got 153 so I’m happy enough!

Friday: It’s clean and jerk day! My shoulders hurt SO BAD but I’m going to go play anyway…and yes, it’s day 6 of training because I forgot to take a rest day this week. OOPS!

I thought I had more to write about but I don’t!

Weekend Recap!

Boyfriend wants me to blog today…

Weekend Recap time!

I did “White”…it was actually a perfect day, the weather was warm-ish, so running the 400s weren’t awful!
3 rope climbs
10 T2B
21 lunges with 45# overhead
400m run

I finished in 30:33 and got this…

20130302_073658And another 8 or 9 bruises along my inner thighs…freakin’ ropes… I need to learn how to climb with the “hook” instead of the “wrap”. I attempted the hook, made it to the top, lost my footing and panicked as I hung there by my arms. Then slid down fireman style and ended up with a bloody finger! #ropeclimbproblems

Matt and I went to Montreal to see the Pens play against the Canadiens20130302_162813

Canadiens win: I do 500 burpees
Pens win: Matt does 500 burpees and we go kitty cat shopping!

Pens won! Matt’s goal is to finish in 1 hour (Spencer Hendel did it in 50-some minutes!)

IMG_20130303_111905Matt bought 3lbs of shredded chicken from the BBQ restaurant by our apartment. The guy asked if Matt was having a party… “Nope, just for me and my gf” We brought 2lbs of it for the road and had it for lunch both days along with our roasted veggies! Paleo Success!

Sunday’s WOD was ok…Matt got hurt and I got frustrated. I just want someone to no rep me during my WODs…I’m still new to pull-ups and I can’t tell if I didn’t get my chin over! I’d rather get no repped than NEVER get my pull-ups down!

Oh well, I just need to keep working hard…soon enough!
