Day Trip: NYC

12 Nov

Another weekend is gone, and today is a much needed rest day for me! (My workout recap to come later!) Like I said on Thursday, Matt and I were  heading down to NYC for the day on Friday. Somehow we managed to eat paleo (except for a few necessary cheats to taste NYC food!) and walked the whole time without  any kind of public transportation. We probably walked a marathon or more, and I definitely felt it the next day.

We started out the day at 3:30am. Got to NYC by 9am? In the city, we stopped at Reebok CrossFit 5th Ave. We wanted to WOD, but couldn’t carry more clothes, etc (someday we’ll go back) we did get to talk to some of the guys that worked there! Bobby is the in-house physical therapist/massage/trainer guy and we got the chance to pick his brain for some tips for our sore, aching bodies. (I’ll post all about that later this week!)

We had breakfast at a nearby cafe (eggs, omlettes, and bacon!) and of course got our coffee fix. We spent the rest of the morning/afternoon site seeing, walking, shopping, checked out the NHL store, and ventured to the 2nd? floor of Tiffany & Co…. 🙂 and I finally got to see FAO Schwarz! We were hungry again….so we headed to BRGR, a burger joint the boasts GRASS-FED BEEF! annnnd they have sweet potato fries! Boom.

regular, lettuce wrapped burger with mushroom and tomato! (and sweet potato fries of course!)

Then we headed toward the real reason we came to NYC in the first place… The Christmas Spectacular show with the Rockettes!!!!! Side note: we packed a bunch of paleo snack foods to save money and keep us on track throughout the day…by this time we still had 4 of our mini sandwiches, 2 larabars, a banana, and trail mix. Unfortunately, outside food was not allowed inside Radio City Music Hall….so I had to get creative and stuffed the majority of it into my bra.  The rest was wrapped in scarves…sadly the banana’s life could not be spared and we had to toss him.  The show was fantastic though, I can’t believe how amazing those dancers are! And the show was great…I had no idea what to expect, but I was very pleased (especially because I only paid half-price thanks to Groupon!

We got an 8pm-ish train back toawrd home, but not before we treated ourselved to a half moon cookie from Zaro’s bakery in Grand Central Station. That place is huge.

And then stuffed our faces with our Paleo noms…

…or maybe I was the only one stuffing my face

P.S. If you read my blog last week, and couldn’t get that video to work… its up now!
